On June 2, 2012 we took a tour of Hyderabad. We had a private bus and tourguide and started our day at Charminar. It was such a nice group: Robert, Mikey, me, my sister Anne, Gretel, Steve, Anne K., Jai and Zayba
Anne, Gretel and I already spent some time at Charminar the previous week, but we enjoyed it anyhow.
You can spot Robert with Mikey on his shoulders anywhere in Hyderabad. Here he is walking on Lad Bazaar.
Anne and Zayba are checking out some bangles
Zayba is Indian and bought some very nice Jasmine for her hair. It smelled so good!!
Our buddy Jai in front of Charminar
Gretel and Steve found a vendor for old coins and bought some really cool (and very old) coins!!
Of course there had to be some negotiating before the final purchase :)
Zayba in front of Mecca Masjid
Since we weren't dressed appropriately for the mosque, we waited outside and Gretel was posing with the people around her
Anne K. quickly bought a scarf so she could enter the mosque
While walking down the street away from Charminar we started hearing some banging. Turned out they were making silver paper. Commonly used here in desserts. It is called Varakh. Small balls of silver are placed between sheets of tissue paper. This is beaten repeatedly but carefully with a heavy metal hammer flattening the balls into paper thin sheets.
After Charminar we went to Taj Falaknuma Palace for a wonderful lunch. What a beautiful place!!!!
We had a wonderful day with an amazing group of people!!!!
